NFL Week 8 Sunday Board: The Model's 30-Point War in Washington, the 82% Pool on the Raiders, and the Ticket Where the Books Sweep the Pools
The complete Week 8 board: every game with DraftKings and PRO•LINE prices, the loop's Elo against the market, fresh public splits, and where the pools are lopsided enough to fade. The ticket: Jets -1.5 against an 82/82 public, the pool-buster that kills 40% of survivor entries, and the most one-sided total of the week.
Fourteen games, four of them worth an argument. The rest is infrastructure — prices, probabilities, and the public standing on the wrong side of both. This is the complete Week 8 board as of Friday evening: DraftKings moneylines via ESPN's feed, the PRO•LINE board we actually bet from Saskatchewan, the loop's Elo walked over nflverse history, and public splits from SportsBettingDime pulled at 18:05 MT Friday. Prices will move. Numbers before kickoff or they didn't happen.
The desk is +18.98u since September at 150-140-9, mean Brier 0.2343 over 299 graded — the ledger keeps the receipts, and Monday's piece grades this card leg by leg against the prices printed here.
The board
Model % is the home team, house-clamped to a 35–65 band the way our selection rules publish it (the rules). "Edge" is model minus market. Positive means the loop likes the home side better than the book does.

Green Bay beat Carolina 27-19 Thursday with the model's priced-in injury adjustment landing exactly where the digest put it — the one game this week where the Sunday-morning injury release wasn't needed to price the game, because the game was already over.
Two wars
Model vs market, 30 points wide. The loop has Philadelphia at 61.7% to win at Washington. The market has the Eagles at 31.5% — Washington steamed to -6 and -265 during the week. A 30-point gap is not a disagreement; it is two different games. Our model is Elo-plus-Thursday-injury-digest and it has not seen Sunday's injury report, which is the usual explanation for a gap this size — someone knows something the digest doesn't. We print it, we don't bet it. If Sunday's release explains the move, the gap was the news. If it doesn't, the model has a story to tell Monday.
Public vs book, 82/82. The most lopsided side of the week is not a favorite. It is the Raiders: 82% of tickets and 82% of money on Las Vegas +1.5 at the Jets, per SBD. The book's number never moved. The Jets opened -1.5 and the Jets close -1.5, and the model — which rates the game a coin flip with a half-point of home lean (NYJ 53.2%) — agrees with the house. When the public and the book disagree and the model referees for the book, that is not a hot take. That is a payroll.
Where the pools are lopsided
Ranked by how one-sided the money is, with the public's lean named:
| Spot | Public | The number says | Read |
|---|---|---|---|
| LV @ NYJ spread | 82/82% on LV +1.5 | NYJ -1.5, model 53.2% | the week's cleanest fade |
| PHI @ WAS total | 83/88% Over | 40.5, lowest on the slate | over-money divergence |
| CLE @ PIT total | 75/78% Over | 39.5, second-lowest | same shape |
| CHI @ SEA total | 70/79% Over | 46.5 | same shape |
| NE @ MIA spread | 74/75% on NE -7.5 | steamed NE all week, model 61.7% agrees | public with the sharps — no fade |
| TEN @ CIN spread | 67/74% on CIN -12.5 | model 83.7%, steamed to -675 | no model cover |
| KC @ DEN total | 77/73% Over | 40.5 | same shape |
| LAC @ LA total | 68/73% Over | 45.5 | same shape |
The totals pattern deserves its own sentence. This season, every total where the over-money divergence ran 14 points or more has gone under. Five for five. That is a small sample wearing a large costume, and we say so every time we cite it — but four of this week's thirteen games carry the signature, and the public is on the over in every one.
The survivor overlay: 40.4% of the national field rides Cincinnati Sunday, per Yahoo's live meter. If Tennessee covers, four of every ten survivor entries in the country die on one afternoon. That is not a betting edge. It is a demographic fact, and it prices the pool-buster below.
The ticket
One anchor, two small legs, everything sized like insurance rather than conviction.
NYJ -1.5 vs LV. The anchor. The only game on the board where the public (82/82), the book (never moved off -1.5), and the model (53.2%) point three different ways — and two of the three point at the Jets. When the Jets win by two, the books sweep the week's biggest public pool, and nobody at the window is cashing Raiders tickets. This is where the books steal the pools.
TEN +12.5 @ CIN. The pool-buster. Deliberately contrarian: the model has Cincinnati at 83.7% and the market steamed toward the Bengals all week, so this ticket buys no edge — it buys the afternoon where 40% of the country's survivor entries get buried. Size it as a pool play or don't size it at all.
Under 40.5, PHI @ WAS. The autopsy leg. 88% of the money is on the over — the most one-sided total of the week — and Washington -6 says the book expects a controlled home win, not a shootout. The five-for-five under read on over-money divergences is the entire case, and five is not a law.
If you want one ticket, it is the Jets. Everything else is a footnote with a stake attached.
Caveats, in the open
The public splits update hourly and have already drifted once today. Sunday's nflverse injury release has not landed as we publish — the model is priced off Thursday's digest plus desk context (Lamar Jackson expected back, Tampa Bay's quarterback priced to play, Cincinnati's steam unexplained by anything we can verify). The model's clamp means its edge on double-digit favorites is printed smaller than its raw number. And none of this is financial advice; it is a scorecard with opinions.
Grading pre-commit, same as every desk card: all three legs grade Monday against the prices printed here, wins and losses in the same type.
