A few months ago, an old friend threw down a challenge: "We should build our own market where people can gamble on sports."

The gears turned instantly. Smoke came from my ears. SaskPoly.xyz was born — a name that, in hindsight, could use some work. I'm originally from Saskatchewan, but I work as a digital nomad now. Through writing my book and other projects, I'd developed a concrete set of data points and a system for making wagers. I had the tool. I just needed the arena.

A week later, I went back to my friend with a complete business plan, a working trading platform, and live trades already executing on the Ethereum blockchain. Two AI traders competed against me and my partner for 0.2 ETH at the end of the NHL season.

Then reality hit. Regulatory requirements, payment processing, withdrawals, transaction compliance — it all became very real, very fast. My partner got cold feet and walked. I don't blame him. I got scared too.

I let the site keep running. Then, last week, I archived the old data and pivoted. A series of internet outages at home in mid-June disrupted my life considerably, and I realized this work — these daily briefs — was the part that actually mattered. The signal in the noise.
