NFL Survivor Rollout: Week 1 Is Live — the Engine Is Running, the Pick Is Jacksonville, and Grading Lands Monday
The SaskPoly NFL survivor vertical is live for the 2026 season: what ships each week, where the Week 1 pick landed (Jacksonville, 76.6%, inside the 10.1-point fade budget), what's on the slate tonight through Monday, and how we'll grade it.
The season is underway, the vertical is live, and the first pick is on the record. This is the rollout post: what the NFL Survivor desk ships, where Week 1 stands after Wednesday night's Seahawks–Patriots opener, and what happens next — because the whole point of this project is that picks get graded, not just made.
What ships every week
The cadence is fixed and it will not move:
- Wednesdays: the weekly brief. The full candidate board — no-vig win probabilities, public ownership, the fade budget, and one pick written down before kickoff with alternates named. Week 1 is already up.
- Mondays: the grading post. The pick scored against the pre-committed number, not the scoreboard's mood. When the math was right and the football wasn't, the grading post says so in the first paragraph.
- In between: recap and process notes when a game moves the board, like the kickoff recap from last night.
The inputs behind the numbers — market-implied win probabilities de-vigged across books, public ownership scraped from pick distributions, a fade budget computed against the chalk, and a schedule map so we know which teams we'll need in December — are the same framework we run in the CFL Scorecast. Where Week 1 stands
The opener is in the books: Seattle beat New England 13–10, the Seahawks advanced for anyone whose pool counted Wednesday night, and we didn't spend a bullet on a 62% game. The pick that counts is Jacksonville (76.6% no-vig) over Cleveland — inside the 10.1-point fade budget, at roughly half the public ownership of the Chargers chalk, with the market's ML/spread disagreement flagged rather than hidden. The alternates, for multi-entry portfolios: the Chargers if you want safety and accept being one of 32%, Detroit if you're spending nearly the whole budget on purpose.
The rest of the slate fills in from here: the Rams and 49ers close the Thursday window from Melbourne, the bulk of Week 1 plays Sunday, September 13, and Monday night closes the week. Jaguars–Browns kicks off at 1:00 PM ET Sunday. From now until then, the pick doesn't change — that's the discipline part.
What happens Monday
Every Week 1 pick in the country gets graded, including ours. The grading post will carry: the Jacksonville result against the 76.6% number, the Chargers result against the 32% ownership figure — a Los Angeles loss is where the fade pays — and the first calibration note of the season — because a ±3-point error band around every market-derived probability is the honest rate, and Week 1 is where we start measuring instead of asserting.
If the Jaguars lose to Cleveland, we'll say so in the first paragraph. We already committed to that.
The note
Everything on this desk is a snapshot of a moving market: win probabilities shift with injury reports, ownership figures update as the public locks in, and the fade budget recomputes against whatever the chalk actually is. We don't promise Jacksonville wins, and we don't promise the engine's Week 2 board looks like this week's. We promise the numbers are real, the sources are linked, the pick is written down before kickoff, and the grade lands on Monday either way.
